WEBSITE:
Matt Witte's New Blood Revival have been compared to the Dave Mathews Band, Phish, Blues Traveler, and every other act you would find on the Hourde Festival. None of those comparisons do this band justice. First, NBR isn't a jam band. They play songs. Second, they're songs aren't completely different from each other. Chances are, if you love one of NBR's songs, you'll love them all.

So the challenge is, how do you classify NBR. Well.....let's just say if Steven Wright decided to make an album full of songs similar to the song "Rachel" found on his critically acclaimed comedy album "I Have A Pony", he would come across as NBR does. Same goes for Andy Kaufman. You could also say that NBR would be to the music industry, what "Shrek" was to the film industy, being that most of NBR's material, thanks to the genius of frontman-songwriter Matt Witte, are cleverly crafted songs of perverted content that could probably be played in front of children, and it would go straight over their heads.

The current phenomenon that is Matt Witte's New Blood Revival started in '94 when Matt played in front of an audience for the first time. The material consisted of covers songs by Sinatra, Jack Logan, some early Dylan, and a few others. Occasionally, Matt threw in an original story accompanied by humble guitars and a harmonica solo. From his first performance, it was extremely evident that the young man was gifted...really gifted.

New Brunswick, home of The Smithereens, Guster and From Good Homes, provided the foundation for the current Matt Witte phenomenon. After performing solo, it was obvious the next step would be to enter the studio and lay down some tracks. Naturally, Matt recognized that some of the songs would be better appreciated and better represented with the help of a full band. This process resulted into two full length albums released simultaneously..."Campaigning For America" and "La Notte e Giovane" in the fall of '99.

After this double-release solo debut, Matt and his New Blood Revival: Brett Neiley on bass, Andy Chen on Sax, and John Swayne on Drums, took to the stages of the East Coast......following in the footsteps of similar Jersey band Blues Traveler. They soon went back into the studio to record their first full length album as a full band, rather than just acoustic guitar and background which the previous albums consisted of. August of 2000 saw the release of "This is Matt Witte's New Blood Revival" to a packed house at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ.

In the years following, Matt Witte's New Blood Revival landed opening gigs at Wetlands and The Bitter End in New York City, Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ, and Tradewinds in Sea Bright, NJ. It wasn't long until they were a headlining act. 2001 saw the follow up to "This is...NBR" with "The Slip".

With a growing legion of fans, mostly consisting of college undergrads, Matt Witte's New Blood Revival is taken their act to the next level, playing out to the crowds of New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Jump on board this new phenomenon, as the crowds get bigger, crazier, and more drunk. There's only one rule at a NBR performance ......you have to move.
